TECHNIMA, a family-owned group headed by Thibault de Maillard, continues its expansion with the integration of the SOLKEM group of companies.
The SOLKEM group produces and distributes a wide range of chemical products for professional and domestic use under the FAREN brand: maintenance products and products for industrial processes (metalworking fluids, lubricants, water treatment) but also cleaning products, disinfectants, hand washing gel, adhesives and surface protection and treatment products.
Manufactured by SK SOLKEM Industries in a 38,000 m2 factory located in Solaro (on the periphery of Milan), these products are distributed in Italy, Spain, Switzerland and Greece by companies affiliated to the group, and by distributors in other European countries.
With this acquisition, the TECHNIMA Group extends its product range well beyond its usual scope of aerosol paints, while strengthening its presence in the technical spray sector.
TECHNIMA designs, produces and distributes a wide range of marking, touch-up and decorative aerosol paints, as well as technical sprays marketed under its own brands and under its customers’ brands. The company was founded in 1962 under the name of SOPPEC by Christian de Maillard in Angoulême. At that time, the company produced paints and varnishes for the repair and decoration of furniture. In the 1990s, the company shifted its focus to the production of marking sprays for the forestry and construction industries and became the current European market leader in this segment.
From 2009 onwards, SOPPEC has been implementing an external growth strategy by acquiring European companies and has since become the TECHNIMA Group. The TECHNIMA range now offers aerosol touch-up paints for decoration or industry as well as technical aerosols for cleaning, lubrication or protection of parts for industrial or automotive equipment. The company also supports street-art artists with its LOOP and KOBRA brands. In 60 years, Technima has gone from a start-up specialising in varnish and paint for wood to a company that designs and produces marking paints, maintenance solutions and decorative products for artistic purposes.
